Windows 10 on the floor !!!

The much awaited windows 10 has now been launched to wow the users with a new everlasting GUI ...Microsoft has made earnest efforts to pick itself up off the floor with this 10 !.....

Microsoft has provided an incentive to the users . And here goes the incentive

In an official statement it said: :"Microsoft's windows 7,8,8.1 users can get free access to windows 10 for a span of an year ".....and thus it is clearly evident from the statement that Microsoft is encouraging it's users to use it's latest version by slowly withdrawing the previous versions of windows which I think is not so good idea.

It also said : the users share a same screen on all of their logged in devices which is an interesting feature to look out for !

the another major update being that the gamers can play xbox seamlessly through a common account which is very good a feature !

the eye catcher is that the voice assistant for Windows (cortana) is now available for Pc's and desktop's too with many new features which still is unknown .

Internet Explorer is now a past, Microsoft has now come up with a new browser Spartan. The name itself sounds too cool...isn't it !!!

summary of activities !

let me brief up the buzz of activities that took place with regard to windows phone apps in the previous couple of weeks,

activity 1 :

windows has got a major whatsapp update.. which has got in really good features like ..photo comments ,video comments etc , this feature is still not available on the other platforms.

activity 2:

nokia camera app has got a minor update and the main reason of this update was to change the name of the app from "nokia camera" to "lumia camera" and there were some minor bug fixes which were sorted out in this update .

activity 3:

the latest feature of whatsapp which has got it's update today itself ,is the "read" update, now whatsapp provides you the feature of knowing when your message was delivered and when it was read by the receiver and the indication for the 'read' option is marked by a double blue tick symbol.

even in group chats this feature is present , it shows you who have seen your message and to whom it is delivered to.

you can see the above feature on long pressing your message and then selecting 'info' from the display box.

this feature is available on all platforms like windows, symbian ,blackberry 10, android and ios .

the latest version of this updated whatsapp is 2.11.596 (provided for user's reference)

the all new tetra lock screen by microsoft corp !

Microsoft corp has very recently launched an all new tetra lock screen app which was actually developed by the interns of Microsoft foundry intern program in Vancouver.

the development team has 5 members with a program manager and  an additional support team

here goes the salient features of this app developed by these interns:

this lockscreen basically has 4 provisions on it :

1. stopwatch
2. current locator (GPS)
3. calendar (with remainders)
4. activity tracker ( this option is available only for devices having an inbuilt nokia sensor core)

In the current locator feature , this app provides us the option of seeing our location on the lock screen itself without the need for unlocking it.

it also shows us the important events of the day at the top corner of the screen when you click on the calendar option

so I sincerely recommend my fellow windows phone users to give it a try.

it is available in the store with the name "Tetra Lockscreen".

5 popular apps that have'nt been updated in the recent past !

microsoft has been trying to get more developers to release their apps for the WP platform. but there is even a dark side to this,the dark side or the problem lying with the major app creators and publishers not bothering to update them with new features and improvements or bug fixes for over an year.

Microsoft recently revealed a new "developers code of conduct" for windows 8.1 and windows phone apps that stated among other things,that developers must stay active with their apps in the windows store.

But this is certainly not the case with 5 major app developers..who developed their apps over an year ago and with no single update/bug fix/improvement  till date.

the same app developers have brought in some or other update on the other major platforms like android and ios , neglecting the windows phone versions.

1. Instagram Beta.

there has not been an update on photo sharing and filter app since mid march and the instagram app on windows is still continuing with a beta tag to it, it still lacks an upload video option which is present in the same version on android and apple's ios platforms.

2. Hulu Plus

this app has not received any sort of update since april of 2014,meanwhile ios and android versions have both been updated many times basically for bug fixes.

3. E-bay

this highly popular online auction site has also not seen any sort of update since april , although an update was launched for international users in june ,once again android and ios versions of this app have seen countless updates since then.

4. Vine

while an official Vine app for xbox one was very recently launched, but this version of windows phone has not seen any update since december 19 2013, so this app has completely been ignored from then.

5. Linkedin

this famous business -themed social networking app is having the worst record of supporting it's windows phone app among the major developers. this app has not seen an update since december 16,2013.


so such major apps not receiving any sort of updates , windows phone lovers might find it difficult to continue with the same old version of the apps.

cyan update !

the very recently released lumia cyan update for windows phone 8.1 has brought in many changes both internally and externally.

this recent update has got some important features that includes the following:
 1. the most important feature being it has got a very smooth flow...as windows is a vertical app list inspired phone...this update helps you to get to the bottom of the list with one single drag..it basically has pumped in that smooth flow to the phone which gives the user the real butter-flow experience.

2. the next important update being..the enhancement in the camera quality. it basically has removed the rough patches in the picture and thereby giving a good picture clarity. the default app 'nokia camera' has got an update which involves the above feature and also includes a new feature 'sequence'.

so with the above 2 major developments in the external features the cyan update did make a good and user friendly interface for the users.

critical update !

windows phone has launched a critical update for windows phone developer version...this update has been rolled out today keeping in view the major updates following this update in the near future..

microsoft has still not provided the finer details of this update but has named this update a "critical update". this update is not a big one..it just takes 10-15 minutes.
